Picture display system for monitor

The system generates control signals in dependence of monitor specific generation parameters. The control signals control the scanning operation of an electron beam. A memory stores the control signals which are read out simultaneously with the picture signals for the transmission to a monitor. The picture signals are stored in a further memory. Preferably, the generated control signals are digital signals and the data of the control signals consists of two bit per pixel residence time. Both memories are formed as storage areas in a shared memory. Separate memories are provided for storing the picture signals and the control signals.
