The invention concerns a method of operating a vehicle with a first drive energy source (1) and a second drive energy source (2), from which sources at least one drive unit is supplied, at least some of the energy released when the vehicle is braked being stored in the energy source(s). According to the invention, during travel at a constant speed and on a flat roadway, only the first energy store (1) is active, the second energy store (2) being activated under the other operating conditions.
