The apertures (3) are so formed and directed in the movement direction of the water along the hovercraft surface that a venturi effect is produced as the result of the flow of the water or the movement of the hovercraft surface. This effect produces a vacuum in the apertures so that air is drawn into the water. The apertures are louvre-type perforations.
