PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an isoxazolidinedione compound, its intermediate and their salts in a high yield by an industrially possible method. SOLUTION: This method comprises producing a compound of general formula I (R is an aromatic hydrocarbon group which may be substituted, a cycloaliphatic hydrocarbon which may be substituted, a heterocyclic group which may be substituted or a condensed heterocyclic group which may be substituted) useful as a therapeutic agent for diabetes from L-aspartic acid-β- methyl ester through a compound of formula II (R is as shown by the above) being an important intermediate in a high yield.
