PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pre-activated catalyst for olefin polymerization which when used in the polymerization of an olefin in the presence of a metallocene- supported catalyst, can give an olefin polymer suppressed in a decrease in a crystallization temperature, having an improved bulk density and improved particle properties, and being capable of being molded into a film of improved transparency and to provide a process for producing an olefin polymer. SOLUTION: There is provided a pre-activated catalyst for olefin polymerization prepared by allowing a supported catalyst comprising a microparticulate support, an organo-transition-metal compound having at least oneπelectron conjugated ligand, and an aluminoxane or a reaction product therebetween to support 0.01-100 g, per kg of the supported catalyst, of a nonlinear olefin prepolymer or both a linear olefin prepolymer and a nonlinear olefin prepolymer.
