PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet print head and a driving method therefor capable of being readily manufactured and printing a high resolution and gradation image in a high speed by changing an amount of an ink drop ejected from a nozzle by many stages without controlling the number of times of superposing of small ink drops and providing a head flow concentration ink and a head for high concentration ink, independently. SOLUTION: This ink jet print head comprises a pressurizing chamber array wherein pressurizing chambers 6a, 6b, 6c are connected in series with supplying passages 7a, 7b, 7c therebertween, piezoelectric elements 1a, 1b, 1c provided in the respective pressurizing chambers 6a, 6b, 6c, a nozzle 5 communicating with the pressurizing chamber 6a positioned to one end of the pressurizing chamber array and an ink reservoir 8 communicating with the other end of the pressurizing chamber array. The ink jet head is driven such that voltage waveforms are sequentially applied to the piezoelectric elements 1a, 1b, 1c from the pressurizing chamber at the side of ink reservoir 8 at timings of which phases are shifted by one-second of the natural period of the pressure wave of the pressurizing chamber. |
