PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shaft seal device which can ensure and maintain an appropriate packing fastening pressure so as to eliminate the necessity of an early retightening work even though a stress relaxation of a gland packing occurs, and to visually know a lowering to the packing fastening force so as to appropriately determine whether the retightening is required or not, thereby it is possible to appropriately maintain a shaft seal function by the gland packing. SOLUTION: A screw shaft 41 passing through a flange part 3a of a packing gland 3 is fixed to a staffing box 1. A compressed spring 43 is interposed between the flange part 3a and a fastening nut 44 threadedly engaged with the screw shaft 41. An indictor 52 is held being pressed between the flange part 3a and the spring 43, and a cylindrical pointer 51 is held being pressed between the fastening nut 44 and the spring 43. The indictor 53 is formed thereon with a plurality of indicating parts which are longitudinally arranged in the fastening direction of the fastening nut 44. The pointer 51 is formed thereon with a pointer part 51c for indicating a display part which varies in accordance with a compressive quantity change of the spring 43 caused by the fastening nut 44. |
