PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a tricyclo compound having pharmacological activity such as immunosuppressive activity, antimicrobial activity, etc., useful for treating and preventing a rejection reaction by transplantation, graft versus host reaction by bone marrow transplantation, etc., by culturing a specific bacterium belonging to the genus Streptomyces and separating and collecting a specific substance from the obtained cultured product. SOLUTION: A bacterium (preferably Streptomyces tsukubaensis) belonging to the genus Streptomyces, capable of producing FR-900,525 substance is cultured generally in an aqueous medium containing an assimilable carbon source such as glucose or the like and nitrogen source such as cottonseed meal or the like under aerobic conditions of shaking culture or the like. FR-900,525 substance is separated and collected by a method such as extraction with a solvent, treatment with a nonionic adsorption resin, etc., a high-performance liquid chromatography, etc., from a mycelium and a filtrate obtained by the filtration of culture broth to give the objective substance. The fermentation is carried out preferably at 25-35 deg.C for about 50-150 hours.
