(I) RCO-An-NHR'COBmNHZ (I) (where R is H, Ph (opt. substd. by halogen OH, 1-4C alkyl, -alkoxy-alkanoyloxy-or alkoxycarbonyl), 1-12C alkyl (opt. substd. by halogen, 1-4C alkoxy or alkanoyloxy or OH or polyalkoxyalkyl or Ph) 1-12C alkoxy, aralkoxy; 1-6C divalent alkylene; NHR1CO is Phe- -Tyr-, -Leu-, -Met- -Trp-, Arg- or -Lys-, Z is (where R" is OH, 1-4 alkoxy, -alkoxyalkyl, 1-8C-dialkylaminoalkoxy, amino, 1-4C-mono- or di-alkylamino, NHCH2COR" or a salt when R" is OH, Y is CO or SO2; X is OH, 1-4C alkyl, halogen or 1-4C alkoxy and n is 0,1 or 2). A and B are amino-acyl residues of low mol.wt. and m and n are 0,1 or 2) are prepd. by standard methods for peptides. Normal pancreatic secretion will hydrolyse (I) and the amino acids are detected in the urine whereas in abnormal cases no amino acids are detected.</p> |
