CATALYST FOR CLEANING EXHAUST GAS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalyst for cleaning exhaust gas, which is capable of efficiently cleaning NO in an exhaust gas containing a high concentration of oxygen. SOLUTION: A first catalyst 2 for oxidizing NO to NO2 is placed at the upper stream side in the direction of the gas flow and a second catalyst 3 for reducing the oxidized NO2 is placed at the downstream side. The catalyst capable of cracking hydrocarbons having higher carbon number to hydrocarbons having lower carbon number and simultaneously reducing NO2 by reacting it with hydrocarbons obtained by the cracking is used as the second catalyst 3.
