<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect a moving object without applying a high load to work and without requiring a severe installing condition by discriminating the existence of an operational change in an image pickup object from an image, extracting the edge on the contour line of the image pickup object on the basis of an operation detecting result, and detecting the existence of the moving object. SOLUTION: An image input means 11 photographs an image of a passage for passing a moving vehicle. An operation detecting means 12 detects a movement in the image periodically obtained from the image input means 11, and an edge extracting means 13 performs edge extracting processing on the image whose operation is detected by the operation detecting means 12 to judge the existence of the edge by generating an edge image. A moving object direction detecting means 14 inputs two images continuing in time when the sufficiently long edge is detected by a fixed quantity or more by the edge extracting means 13, judges whether or not it is an object moving in the predetermined direction, and discriminates whether or not it is a vehicle. Thus, in work, a required process is only to fix the image input means 11 toward the moving vehicle, so that burying work is obviated.</p> |
