PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to connect a non-quartz-base optical fiber and a quartz-base optical fiber with a low loss and a low reflection without breaking them by not interposing an adhesive layer consisting of an adhesive between the connecting end of the first optical fiber and the connecting end of the second optical fiber. SOLUTION: An optical adhesive is not interposed between the fiber connecting end faces of the non-quartz-base optical fiber 1 and the quartz-base optical fiber 2. Namely, the region provided with the adhesive layer 5 is restricted so that the adhesive is not spread to the region of the connecting portion between the non-quartz-base optical fiber 1 and the quartz-base optical fiber 2 and near the same. Further, grooves 6-1, 6-2 for storing the adhesive are formed on optical fiber holding casings 4-1, 4-2. The optical fiber juncture is provided with such grooves 6-1, 6-2, by which the flow of the adhesive layer forming the adhesive layer 5 pressed at the time of the tight adhesion of the connecting surface 4-1 and the connecting surface 4-2 into the connecting portion of the non-quartz-base optical fiber 1 and the quartz-base optical fiber 2 and the region corresponding near the same is prevented. |
