PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shift control device which can gear shift not only automatically but also manually (in M-mode), and restrain occurrence of a slip of a tire upon starting on a snow covered road in the M-mode while a merit obtained by the M-mode function can be exhibited, and also restrain occurrence of impairment in drivability. SOLUTION: A shift control device comprises a means for selectively switching between an automatic gear shift mode and an M-mode, and a means for selectively switching among shift patterns, and inhibits shift-down at least onto a lowest stage, and lowers the shift stage by a number greater than 1. In this case, for example, it may be preferably carried in such a configuration that a first shift stage (M1) is inhibited, or the sliding is made from a second shift stage toward the lowest shift stage side (Ms2). In particular, in the latter configuration, a merit in a continuously variable transmission is further exhibited so as to be more preferably, thereby it is effective for ensuring a drive torque and so forth. |
