PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an industrial method for producing a bivalent phenol, capable of producing the bivalent phenol safely and stably also in a high selectivity and having an excellent effect by oxidizing a monovalent phenol, and a device for executing the above method. SOLUTION: This method for producing a bivalent phenol is provided by supplying a monovalent phenol, a catalyst, a ketone compound and part of an inorganic peroxide (e.g.; hydrogen peroxide) into a first reactor 1 (a first reacting column) of an oxidation reaction device obtained by joining a plurality of reactors (reacting columns) in series for performing the oxidation reaction, then supplying the obtained reaction liquid to the subsequent reaction column for performing the oxidation reaction of the monovalent phenol such as phenol successively with the peroxide, while allowing the reaction liquid to flow through each of the following reactors and also supplying the inorganic peroxide (e.g.; the rest or part of the total supplying amount of the hydrogen peroxide) into at least one of the following reactors. |
