<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a motion detector that controls an interpolation device for scanning line doubler. SOLUTION: This detector includes a frame delay circuit that delays a received pixel F0 by 2 fields and outputs a delayed pixel F2 at the arrival of an F0 pixel, a subtractor 32 that receives the pixels F0, F2, a sign elimination device 36 that eliminates a sign of a difference from the subtractor 32 to provide an output of an absolute value, a limiter/threshold value circuit 62 that passes the absolute value in excess of a prescribed minimum threshold value, a horizontal expansion circuit 64 that expands a motion detection value over a prescribed number of pixels adjacent to the pixel F0 and provides an output of the result to an OR gate 76, a delay circuit 68 that delays the expanded motion detection value by one field and provides an output of the result to the OR gate 76, and a delay circuit 72 that delays the motion detection value that is field-delayed and expanded by one scanning line period and provides an output of the result to the OR gate 76. The OR gate 76 selects signal with a maximum absolute value among the three input signals and outputs the selected signal as a motion detection value.</p> |
