NEW PHYSIOLOGICALLY ACTIVE PEPTIDE AND ITS USE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new physiologically active peptide having smooth muscle relaxation action and sodium diuretic action of known sodium diuretic peptide and useful as an agent for the treatment of circulatory diseases. SOLUTION: The objective compound is expressed by the formula (X is H or the like; Asp is L-aspartic acid; Ser is L-serine; Gly is glycine; Cys is L-cysteine; Phe is L-phenylalanine; Arg is L-arginine; Leu is L-leucine; Ile is L-isoleucine; Asn is L-asparagine; Val is L-valine; Tyr is L=tyrosine; Lys is lysine; Met is methionine; His is histidine), e.g. human cerebral sodium diuretic peptide 26. The compound can be produced e.g. by introducing a protected His derivative into a p-alkoxybenzyl alcohol resin, successively bonding corresponding protecting amino acids to the product to synthesize a protected peptide resin, subjecting the resin to the cutting of peptide and the removal of the protecting groups from the resin and finally purifying the product.
