<p>1275397 Semi-conductor mountings WESTINGHOUSE BRAKE & SIGNAL CO Ltd 2 Dec 1970 [20 Feb 1970] 8247/70 Heading H1K [Also in Division B6] A Si semi-conductor element is soft soldered to a header 2 carrying a first terminal post 4, and further terminal posts 7 interposed through apertures 8 are secured by moulding material 5 and connected by wires 9 soft soldered to appropriate regions of the semi-conductor. After formation of the assembly it is gold plated, by immersion in electroless cyanide based plating solution, on the exposed surfaces of header 2, solder 3, terminals 4, wire 9 and solder 10 (Fig. 2, not shown). Thereafter the assembly is etched in HNO 3 +HF to remove impurities from the semi-conductor while leaving the gold plating unaffected. A flanged cap enclosing the semi-conductor is welded to flange 11 of the header.</p> |
