PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily mass-produce charcoal for various usage by preliminarily forming a vegetable source material into a specified shape to obtain a granular intermediate material and carbonizing the granular intermediate material by an external heating method to heat an almost sealed over which houses the granular intermediate material. SOLUTION: The granular intermediate material is prepared in chips of several mm to several 10 mm size. A wood or bamboo material larger in the size is cut or pulverized into chips. Chaff, tea leave waste and coffee bean waste in a powder state are solidified with a binder or the like if necessary, and formed into chips of a specified size. If the granular intermediate material is formed into a hollow cylindrical form, it is preferable because the substantial surface area increases. The granular charcoal 1 is obtd. by carbonizing a granular intermediate material prepared by cutting bamboo of <=10 mm diameter into about 15 mm length. By heating the granular intermediate material in an almost sealed oven while rotating, the intermediate material is uniformly carbonized without uneven distribution of heat or sticking. The amt. of the obtd. granular charcoal 1 as a unit can be easily controlled so that the charcoal can be used for various usage such as a deodorizer, filtering material, electromagnetic absorbent, far infrared radiating material or the like. |
