PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce torque change caused in switching to a lean driving mode. SOLUTION: This internal combustion engine implements air-fuel ratio tailing with a primary delay to the operational condition of a second air bypass valve 28, in the case of guiding air using the second air bypass valve 28, which has better responsiveness than a first air bypass valve 25, in switching from a stoichiometric feedback mode to a lean driving mode. It is prevented that the amount of fuel increases relatively to the amount of the air guided with the primary delay, to reduce torque change caused in switching from the stoichiometric feedback mode to the lean driving mode or in switching from the lean driving mode to a lean driving prohibition mode. |
