PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact rotary operation type variable resistor capable of preventing the generation of silver migration even when it is used in a DC state and eliminating the necessity of applying contact grease to the contact surface of an elastic contact as to the constitution of a resistor substrate part for the resistor and its manufacturing method. SOLUTION: A current collecting board 13 is formed by applying silver group ink to a hard insulating substrate similar to a resistor substrate 12 as a print and fixed on the bottom of an insulated resin case 11 by inserting molding so as to form a level difference from the substrate 12, so that the compact rotary operation type variable resistor capable of preventing the generation of silver migration and eliminating the necessity of applying contact grease to the contact surface of a contact can be obtained.
