PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for selectively producing pyridinecarboxylic acid in high yield, providing no problem such as low conversion and low yield of the product when oxidizing an alkylpyridine with ozone. SOLUTION: This method for producing pyridinecarboxylic acid by reacting an alkylpyridine with ozone includes using a manganese compound in combination with a cobalt compound regulated so that the number of manganese atoms in the manganese compound may be 1-10 per number of the cobalt atoms in the cobalt compound.
