PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase the number of sheets being printable at the time of forming an image in which a stored waste toner amount is small by making the maximum amount of toner stored in a storage device at the time of forming the image different between a 1st image forming mode and a 2nd image forming mode. SOLUTION: The full tank state of waste toners can be detected by a waste toner full tank state detecting mechanism 50 when lots of the waste toners of a long-life cartridge 13 are stored in a cleaning container 14 and the waste toners reach the storage amount of the waste toners. Then, a user is informed that the full tank state is detected and urged to exchange the cartridge. A count-up value added for every printing operation after the mechanism 50 detects the water toner storage amount V is set based on waste toner storable amount ΔV and the estimated maximum value of the waste toner amount in each printing mode.
