PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect whether or not an ink is surely discharged in an ink jet printer. SOLUTION: An ink discharging sensor 100 for detecting whether or not an ink is discharged in an ink jet printer for forming an image by discharging ink particles, comprising a pressure sensitive film 110 for receiving the discharged ink particles for outputting vibration of the pressure sensitive film 110 as an electric signal is provided. It is preferable that the device reacts only to the discharged ink particles without reacting to the outside noise due to the pressure sensitive film 110 and the impedance of a coil.
