PURPOSE:To easily and certainly perform the setting or alteration of a mode corresponding to use alteration so as to fit to a host to be used or application, by providing an indicated mode reading means for reading an indicated mode to set the same to a mode for executing printing operation. CONSTITUTION:A non-volatile memory 31 has the function as a mode memory means and used in a mode setting memory for storing modes for several kinds of the printing operations set by the mode setting means and a logging data memory for recording the change of the operative state of a printer controller 20 according to timewise transition. When a mode setting switch is depressed, a mode set state is obtained and a mode is set by the switch. When the mode setting switch is depressed simultaneously with a shift switch, a mode selection state is obtained and the mode is indicated by the switch. The printer controller 20 is constituted so that a CPU 8 reads the set data of an indicated mode name from the non-volatile memory 31 to set a mode executing printing operation on and after. |
