1277148 Fluid regulation J C ECKARDTAG 10 Aug 1970 [3 Nov 1969] 38464/70 Heading G3H In a pneumatic differential pressure amplifier 1, control of flow between an inlet 7 and two outlets 8 and 9, is effected by means of two abutting ball-members 4 each of which is operatively engaged by the stem 5 of a diaphragm 6, the outer sides of the two diaphragms being subjected to controlling pressures. Thus, in the event of the two pressures being equal, the amplifier assumes the state shown. Upon such pressures attaining different values, one of the balls tends to obstruct its associated outlet whilst the other tends to open its associated outlet, the proportional degree of change in the section of each outlet being the same Fig. 5 (not shown). The outlet passages 8 and 9 each lead from tapered slots 10, which slots open into the ball-accommodating bore 3 of cylindrical inset 2 and extend in a direction generally trans- versely to the outlets, Fig. 2 (not shown). In a modification, Fig. 3 (not shown), each output passage connects two branch passages each of which leads from a tapered slot, there being in this arrangement two slots for each ball symmetrically disposed one on either side of the bore 3.
|
