SEALED BATTERY AND ITS MANUFACTURE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sealed battery with high battery characteristics and its manufacturing method by preventing the slippage of an electrode and enhancing electrolyte retainability. SOLUTION: A sealed battery is constituted with an electrode group 5 formed by spirally winding a positive electrode plate and a negative electrode plate through a separator, and a sealing plate 4 for sealing a battery case 3 in which an electrolyte is housed, and holding parts 6 recessed than the separator surface are formed in at least two portions including the upper part and the lower part on the separator surface in the outermost circumference of the electrode group 5. Differential step is produced between the holding part 6 and a part where the holding part 6 is not formed on the separator surface, closely attaching of the separator to the electrode plate is prevented, and the retainability of the electrolyte is enhanced.
