PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce, with a simple circuit configuration an image signal that has the desired zoom scale factor. SOLUTION: A CCD image 12 has a VGA resolution, and image data of 640 pixels×480 lines are outputted from a signal processing circuit 18 by it. Meanwhile, one time or two times modes are set to a CPU 42 by an operation of a zoom button. The CPU 42 activates a thinning circuit 21 in the one time mode and activates a cutting out circuit 49 in the two times mode. The circuit 21 thins pixel data from the image data of 640 pixels×480 lines by every other pixel or by every other line and outputs image data of 320 pixels×240 lines. The circuit 49 cuts out images data of 320 pixels×240 lines in the center of the image data of 640 pixels×480 lines.
