Oxo azacycloalkane derivatives (I), their enantiomers, diastereoisomers, mixtures, and salts with acids and bases, are new. Oxo azacycloalkane derivatives of formula (I), their enantiomers, diastereoisomers, mixtures, and salts with acids and bases, are new: R1, R2 = H; or R1+R2 = together form ethylene; R3 = H; R4 = an aromatic group of formula (i)-(vi); or R3+R4 = forms methylene; or R3+R4 = form a group of formula (vii) or (viii); X = 2-5C alkylene, 2-4C alkenylene, -CHR6-, -NR7-, or methylene when R1 and R2 are ethylene; R5 = H, CF3, or methylenedioxy attached to two carbons of the phenyl ring; R6 = OH or phenyl; R7 = H, methyl, phenyl, or phenoxycarbonyl; R8 = H, 1-4C alkyl, or a metal cation; A = an aromatic ring such as benzene, thiophene, or furan, optionally substituted by 1 or 2 groups such as alkyl or halogen; n = 0 or 1; and asterisk = attachment.
