PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrolytic solution for driving an aluminum electrolytic capacitor which enables a decrease in loss and an improvement in reliability of the aluminum electrolytic capacitor. SOLUTION: The electrolytic solution for driving an electrolytic capacitor is constituted by adding 3,4-dihydroxy-3-cyclobutene-1,2-dione, or salts thereof, each of which is shown in formula 1, as a solute of 5-40 wt.%, to a solvent composed ofγ-butyrolactone and/or ethylene glycol.
