PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reflection type liquid crystal display device permitting a bright screen display with a wide viewing angle by making a light reflection film a light scattering reflection film constituted by laminating a light scatterer consisting a light reflective thin film and microlenses, and a flattened film. SOLUTION: A light reflection film 12 is constituted of a metal reflection film 13 (light reflective thin film) and plural 1.5μm thick micro lenses 14 arranged on the metal reflection film positionally matched therewith and a flattening film 18 for coating these plural microlenses 14 and flattening their surfaces. Therefore, a beam of light made incident from an observer's side substrate 11b is uniformly scattered by a light scatterer consisting of the micro lenses 14 and also reflected by the metal reflection film 13 (light reflective thin film), and is made to exit from the observer' side substrate 11b. Consequently, the external light is converged at the position of the observer, and it becomes possible to display a bright picture irrespective of an incident angle of the incident light.
