PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To use an electrically conductive oxide as a thermoelectric transducing material by causing the thermoelectric transducing material to contain a metal oxide that is expressed by a predetermined formula, and by setting the performance index at a predetermined value. SOLUTION: A thermoelectric transducing material contains a metal oxide that is expressed by a chemical formula (La1-x Srx )FeO3-δ(where 0<X<1, 0<=δ<=0.5). The metal oxide consists, in part or in whole, of an orthorhombic crystal of 90-95% by weight. Its grain size is set at 0.1-10μm, and its performance index is set at 0.3×10<-4> K<-1> or higher within the temperature range of absolute temperatures 873 K to 1,273 K. As a result, since an electrically conductive oxide can be used as a thermoelectric conversion material, it can be produced readily through a simple synthesis process and can exhibit a large performance index in the temperature range of 600-1,000 deg.C.
