The mounting system for wall cladding and wall merchandise carriers has horizontal rails (1) secured to the wall, to support carriers (3) suspended by hooked recesses (4.1) at the rail. The carrier (3) has an open cross section with two parallel side walls (3.1), each with a free edge with hooked openings (4,4.1). The hooked recess structure gives a positive fit for suspension at the rail (1).
