[Also in Division C2] A process for the flame-proofing of textile fibres comprises treating the materials with an aqueous preparation containing at least one phosphorus - containing reaction product obtained by reacting a condensation product of a 1,3,5-triazine containing at least 2 primary amino groups, and at least one compound of formula wherein R 1 and R 1 ' are C 1-4 alkyl, alkenyl or haloalkyl and wherein the H 2 N-groups of one of the components are methylolated and optionally etherified, with formaldehyde or a formaldehyde-releasing reagent and optionally a C 1-4 alkanol, and thereafter drying the textile material and subjecting them to a heattreatment. The products are generally of the formula where X is C 1-4 alkyl, m is 4 to 6, n is 3 or 4 and p is at most n+1. The aqueous preparation preferably contains a strong acid or a precursor therefor and an aminoplast precondensate. Additionally, a copolymer obtained from an alkaline earth metal salt of anα,#-ethylenically unsaturated monocarboxylic acid, an N-methylolamide or N-methylolamide-ether of anα,#-ethylenically unsaturated mono- or dicarboxylic acid, and at least one other monomer, may also be present, and, advantageously, a finishing agent.</p> |
