The invention relates to a folding top (1) for a motor vehicle. Said folding top can be adjusted between a closed position (2) and a folded position and has a folding-top linkage (3) and a folding-top cover. A side bow (4), comprising two limbs that are positioned at an angle, is arranged on the folding-top linkage (3). This side bow (4) is supported in the side area of the folding-top linkage (3) by a joint (13) with a first axis (14) and a second axis (15) which extends at an angle to said first axis (14). In the folded position, one limb of the side bow (4) runs crosswise to the longitudinal direction (9) of the vehicle and the front side of the limb facing away from the joint (13) faces towards the side area of opposite the joint. According to the invention, the pivotable side bow (4) is configured as a one-piece part and one limb of said pivotable side bow (4) extends in the closing direction of the folding top (1) as far as a window glass frame (10) of the windscreen. The tightness of the folding top (1) in the area of the side windows is improved as a result.
