The invention relates to a method for producing a cross-linked, extruded polymer product. According to the inventive method, a polymer base material, a supporting material for a catalyst, an antioxidant and an additive containing a hydrolisable, unsaturated silane are, in a common manner, mechanically mixed and fed to an extruder. In said extruder, the temperature of the mixture is increased to a value at which a grafting reaction of the silane occurs. The invention is characterized in that a supporting material is used whose melting temperature is higher than the melting temperature of the polymer base material. As a result, the substances bound in the supporting material are not released and are not active during grafting.
