A hole (16) in the head support region (15) of the bed (2) allows a person lying on the bed support surface (3) to see through to the area immediately below the headrest underneath the bed. The person lying stomach down on the bed support surface can rest his or her forehead on a support surface (18) between the top end (17) of the bed and the hole wall (35) at this end. The cross-sectional dimensions of the holes are chosen to allow at least the eye and nose regions to lie in the area of the hole when a person is lying stomach down on the bed support surface and therefore allow the person to look at an object beneath the hole.
