The battery includes a number of fibre anodes, a number of fibre cathodes bundled with the fibre anodes, an electrolyte between the fibre anodes and the fibre cathodes and a tubular compliant lateral casing laterally surrounding the fibre anodes, the fibre cathodes, and the electrolyte. A compliant end plate is sealed to the lateral casing at its each end. An end of each fibre anode extends out of a first end plate at a first end of the battery. An end of each fibre cathode extends out of a second end plate at a second end of the battery. Each fibre anode comprises an anode fibre, and a layer of an anode active material overlying the anode fibre. |
