In a meat roasting process, the meat is placed on a spit which is supported on a cradle and conveyed into the oven where it comes to rest at a predetermined point and heated. During the cooking process, the meat rotates on the spit, while simultaneously the cradle is continually raised and lowered by a pneumatic unit which also powers the turning spit.
