A pipettor attachable microcentrifuge tube opener (10) adapted to fit on a common pipettor (30), allowing the user to open a microcentrifuge tube (50, 60) without the need to open the tube solely by hand or through use of an additional instrument. Alternatively, the features of the microcentrifuge tube opener (40) may be integrated into an originally manufactured pipettor.
