The invention aims to provide a device for transporting fabric pieces (2) separated from a fabric web (1) which makes it possible to transport individual fabric pieces consecutively and virtually without gaps and deliver them to a sewing device so that the capacity of the sewing device can be fully utilized. To this end the invention provides for a device comprising a first transport device by means of which a fabric web (1) can be withdrawn from a fabric accumulator (3) and the free end of the web (1) to be separated is possibly tensed, as well as a second transport device whose transportation plane is parallel to the transportation plane of the first transport device and has means for holding the separated piece of fabric (2). The direction of transport of the first transport device is parallel to the longitudinal direction of the fabric web and the direction of transport of the second transport device is perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the fabric web.
