<p>A SCR (selective call radio) (300), including a radio receiver (304) and a processor (308), is used for decoding an interleaved data block received as a radio signal. The processor (308) is adapted to cause the radio receiver to demodulate (202) the radio signal to generate a demodulated data signal including the interleaved data block, and to apply (204) an error correction algorithm to a plurality of code words of the interleaved data block to correct any code word having no more than a predetermined number of bit errors correctable. The processor is further adapted to detect (206) a corrupt code word having more than the predetermined number of bit errors correctable, and to correct (208) the corrupt code word by correlating it with at least a portion of one or more of the plurality of code words having no more than the predetermined number of bit errors correctable.</p> |
