A cable fastening, especially for the fastening of the electrical supply cable of hand tools machines, domestic apparatus, etc, consists of a rubber, plastic or metal moulded piece which is connected to the cable at the cable end in the proximity of the plug. The moulded piece has an opening with almost the diameter of the supply cable, which is opened by a slot (16) with snap-on bevels. The surfaces (11,12) are designed as shoulder points for thumb and index finger and are located so that by pressure of thumb and/or index finger, an opening of the slot automatically takes place.
