1342491 Pneumatic tyres DUNLOP HOLDINGS Ltd 11 Jan 1971 [15 Jan 1970] 1267/71 Heading B7C A pneumatic tyre has a bead region reinforcement comprising a coherent layer of fibres (fleece) in which the fibres are neither woven nor knitted but have a preferential orientation which is substantially perpendicular to the tyre circumference. In manufacture the fleece is carded to orientate the fibres in one direction and is then impregnated with a liquid latex adhesive such as resorcinal formaldehyde prior to building into the tyre. In particular the reinforcement comprises a bead core wrapping 12 and/or a chafer strip 11, the strip of fleece forming the reinforcement being stretched during moulding in a direction substantially perpendicular to the tyre circumference. |
