1315764 Branch pipe fitting PLASTOTECNICA SA 7 Oct 1971 [15 Jan 1971] 46681/71 Heading F2G A branch pipe fitting comprises an open hoop-shaped member 12 capable of being positioned about a main pipe 13, the ends of the member 12 having part-cylindrical sections 14 which form a tubular branch element when the member 12 is closed around the pipe. The tubular branch element sections 14 receive a coupling sleeve 17 carrying a sealing ring 19 which is urged into fluid-tight contact around a branch opening in the main pipe 13 by a coupling nut 23 which engages the sleeve 17 and screws on to the tubular element 14. The hoopshaped member 12 is of resilient or flexible material such as metal or synthetic plastics material. The sealing ring 19 is located in an open groove 18 in the end of the sleeve 17 which is curved to fit the main pipe 13. The bore of the other end of the sleeve 17 is threaded to receive a threaded end 21 of a nozzle or other fitting 22, e.g. in a domestic hydraulic system. Guide members (not shown) on the interior surfaces of the elements 14 correctly orientate the coupling sleeve 17. The branch opening in the pipe 13 may be drilled after the branch fitting has been attached around the pipe wherein the sleeve 17 acts a guide for the drill. |
