<p>A kit (1) which facilitates the removal of obstructions (0), such as broken files, from the root canal (RC) of a patient during an endontic or root canal procedure. The kit includes a trephine (3) sized to be inserted in the root canal (RC) and adapted to widen the root canal (RC) around the obstruction (0) to expose the obstruction (0) and an obstruction removal tool (5, 7) adapted to engage and mechanically grasp the obstruction (0) to remove the obstruction (0) from the root canal (RC). The obstruction removal tool (5, 7) includes a hollow tube (5) and a plunger (7) slideable within the tube (5). The hollow tube (5) is sized to be inserted in the root canal (RC) a distance sufficient to receive the obstruction (0) within its lumen. A cutout (31) is spaced from the end (29) of the hollow tube (5), and the hollow tube (5) is slid over the obstruction (0) a distance sufficient to generally align the top of the obstruction (0) with the cutout (31).</p> |
