The system operates in a medical center comprising several rooms (1-12) and includes devices (17) with transmitting sections (18), which emit different characteristic signals. The devices are carried by different people (13-16) and co-operate with units (19) with reception arrangements (20) arranged at the doors of the rooms. The units co-operate with an evaluation unit (21), for determining the location of the people in one of the rooms. The units preferably comprise at least two reception arrangements, arranged sequentially. The evaluation unit preferably comprises a computer (21).
