A galvanic cell (20), especially a miniature cell, comprises first and second electrodes (22, 26) of opposite polarity, a separator (28) and an electrolyte, contained in a two-part housing of a cup (1) and a can (24) sealed with an insulating gasket (34), wherein the cup comprises an inwardly beaded area (14) and the gasket is seated in the cup on the inwardly beaded area. The bead is preferably disposed in the vicinity of the open end of the cup, and preferably a low profile can and gasket are used, so that effectively the majority of the cross section thickness of the vertical portion of the cell housing is attributed to only the thickness of the wall of the cup and thus maximum internal volume of the cell is reserved for active cell components. A process for producing the cell with the beaded cup is also disclosed. |
