<p>A method of transporting solid material pieces in the liquid of mass-exchanging apparatus comprises forming sawtooth pneumatic pulses which are converted into reciprocal motion of the liquid. This motion is directed via slits in a sloping ramp so as to cause material pieces to move up the ramp. The slits are arranged in the ramp at an acute angle to the direction of movement of the material pieces. Apparatus for carrying out the method includes a tubular vessel (1), a ramp (4) and a pulse chamber (14) for causing the reciprocal motion of the liquid.</p> |
