Composition for direct dying of human hair comprises a direct cationic azo dye (I) and a polyol or an aliphatic or aromatic ether of a polyol. Composition for dyeing keratinic fibers, particularly human hair comprises: (i) at least one direct cationic dye of formula (I): and (ii) at least one of glycerin and/or a ≥ 4 C polyol and/or a 1-8 C aliphatic ether of a 3-9 C polyol and/or a 6-8 C aromatic ether of a 2-9 C polyol.
