Halogenfrei flammgeschützte thermoplastische Formmassen, enthaltend A) 5 bis 97,5 Gew.-% eines Polyphenylenethers, B) 1 bis 93,5 Gew.-% vinylaromatische Polymere, C) 0 bis 50 Gew.-% an Schlagzähmodifiern, D) 0,5 bis 5,0 Gew.-% an Polyethylen mit einer Dichte, bestimmt nach ISO 1183, im Bereich von 0,935 bis 0,980 g/ml, E) 1 bis 20 Gew.-% eines Flammschutzmittels sowie, F) 0 bis 60 Gew.-% an weiteren Zusätzen.
